Royal Arena sparkles like the crown jewel for the current year of LEN

By: Eline Andersen

The European Short Course Swimming Championships 2017 are the crown jewel for the current year of LEN, and following this week’s site visit in the Capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, Paulo Frischknecht, the CEO of LEN is more than pleased with the planning.

“We are quite happy. Denmark has shown that they are reliable and stick to the plans and deadlines. The Danish organizing committee has very skilled people and we build on our previous history when the short course championships were staged in Herning in the Box. Because we have these shared experiences, I actually believe that this year’s short course championships in the new Royal Arena in Copenhagen will surpass Herning. I say this because we now see the full potential of the Arena,”

Mr. Frischknecht adds to his praise of the planning that to LEN the European Short Course Swimming Championships 2017are the crown jewel of the year and the expectations are sky high:

“With Herning we set the bar high, and I’m sure this year we will push it even higher. LEN always strives for excellence. Together with the Danish Swimming Federation, Copenhagen and Sport Event Denmark we have all the tools both in terms of an excellent TV-production, in terms of attention and in terms of this great arena.”

Mr. Frischknecht visited Copenhagen this week together with LEN colleagues and the LEN Technical Committee. This site visit was the second site visit to Royal Arena in Copenhagen and Pia Holmen, CEO of the Danish Swimming Federation welcomes the LEN statements:

“We are honored to stage the LEN’s crown jewel for the current year and we work hard to meet their expectations. The championships will contribute to the promotion of swimming in Denmark and Danish swimming abroad. The event will also display the unique Danish volunteer culture, as we will get a helping hand from the Danish swimming clubs in Copenhagen.”

The shared history with the Danish organizers were laid out in 2013 when Denmark hosted the LEN European Short Course Championships for the first time in Herning. The LEN the European Short Course Swimming Championships 2017will be the very first sporting event that the Royal Arena will host.
